Westpac has been factory trained to test and repair immersion suits. Testing is performed by inflating the suit to the pressure specified by UL Labs and checking for leaks. Each suit is also visually inspected for loose attachments, damage or other issues that would impair the functioning of the device. After the suit's inspection, the zipper is lubricated and batteries are replaced in the light if necessary.
The things we can not test for are:
• Seam strength
• Buoyancy
• Thermal insulation
Studies have show that all three of these items degrade with age. We use the
industry standard ten (10) year service life for immersion suits and will not
recertify a suit that has exceeded this age. Your safety is our primary concern.
