Since Switlik's material has a urethane coating on both the inside and the outside they are able to make a welded "lap" seam. Additionally Switlik places seam cover tape on both the inside and outside.

Manufacturers that use single coated material are only able to make a "butt" seam. This type of seam and material does not give the redundancy that Switlik's production technique does.
