Amerex Fire Extinguishers

     Amerex manufacturers an extensive variety of hand portable and wheeled fire extinguishers. The most popular models are outlined in the table below.

     ABC or Multi Purpose extinguishers utilize a special dry chemical powder that is effective on class A,B, or C fires. This type provides the most versatility with the downside of being very messy.
     Carbon Dioxide extinguishers are effective for Class B flammable liquid fires and is electrically non conductive. Carbon dioxide is a clean, non-contaminating, odorless gas, safe for use on clothing, equipment, valuable documents or food. The downside of Carbon Dioxide fire extinguishers is that they are very heavy and they are not effective on class A fires.
     Halotron I is intended for use in areas formerly protected by Halon 1211 such as clean rooms, data storage areas, offices, boats, aircraft and vehicles. Halotron I is a "Clean Agent" which leaves no residue. Halotron I's downside is its cost.
